Uomo,
questa forza
che chiami calma
è estasi del cuore,
riposo delle membra
quando poggi lo sguardo
sulle labbra
di un’alba che fai donna,
quando nello sbadiglio della sera culli tuo figlio,
dentro il silenzio di una pietra
umile come le tue mani
nella fatica del giorno,

this force
what you call calm
is ecstasy of the heart,
rest of the limbs
when you look down
on the lips
of a dawn that you make a woman
in an evening yawn
of your child
inside the silence of a stone,
humble as your hands
in the fatigue of the day,
waiting for your smile
you speak of love
everywhere

because you are a father.
